How Many Units??
If this phrase sounds familiar, you might find this blog on how to reconstitute botox and how many units are in certain volumes useful!
If you have 50 units of toxin (Bocouture or Botox Allergan) and this is reconstituted with 1.25ml of 0.9% sodium chloride then every 0.1 ml will hold the equivalent of 4 units of toxin. (0.05ml will be the equivalent of 2 units of toxin)
When using microfine insulin needles it is important to remember that the number of INSULIN units does NOT equal the same number of botox units.
For example, if you have a 0.5ml microfine insulin syringe it will be graded in values of 5 (eg 5,10,15,20 all the way to 50). When using this syringe each grading of 5 on the syringe is equal to 0.05ml of solution which equals 2 units of botox.
Therefore, if you wanted to place 4 units of botox you would be using 0.1ml which would be going down to gradings on this 0.5ml insulin syringe ie 0-5-10.
5 INSULIN units = 0.05 ml = 2 units of TOXIN* |
10 INSULIN units = 0.1ml = 4 units of TOXIN* |
It can sometimes be daunting, trying to get your head around dilutions and volumes, so you might find it helpful to print off the chart above and have it to hand while mixing and drawing up the units of toxin you need for treatment.
