Celebrating Innovation and Excellence: An Interview with Dr. Taimur Shoaib, Consultant Plastic Surgeon & Medical Director of La Belle Forme & Glasgow Day Surgery Centre

I’ve had the privilege of knowing Dr. Taimur Shoaib—an outstanding plastic surgeon and visionary entrepreneur—for many years. I first met him during the early days of his career, when he bravely took his initial steps into establishing his private practice.
Over the years, I have watched his journey of relentless dedication, clinical excellence, and entrepreneurial spirit as he built La Belle Forme into a leading medical aesthetic clinic group.

Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with Taimur to learn more about his inspiring path and his insights into the evolving industry. Here’s his story:

What inspired you to establish your own aesthetic business, and what were the biggest challenges you faced?

In 2006, I was working as a consultant plastic surgeon within the NHS, but my private practice was rapidly expanding. My accountant suggested I consider opening my own clinic—saying, “What’s the worst that could happen? Rent a space, and if it doesn’t work out, you’ve only lost the rent.” That advice sparked the launch of La Belle Forme in Glasgow city centre in 2008.*

What advice would you give to someone starting out today, especially given the increased competition?

The biggest challenge I faced was the lack of business training in medical school. I had to learn the nuances of entrepreneurship on the go. My key advice: be proactive, educate yourself about business, and never stop learning.

Do you believe there is still room for growth in the medical aesthetic industry today?

Absolutely. The industry is thriving, driven by increasing demand for aesthetic procedures. With the rise of social media and a focus on personal confidence, reputable, well-qualified medical professionals will continue to find opportunities for growth.*

Looking to the future, what trends or changes do you foresee shaping the industry?

Patients now seek natural, refreshed looks rather than exaggerated results. Instagram-driven beauty trends and the quest for longevity—combining lifestyle, clinical, and aesthetic medicine—are shaping this shift. Furthermore, AI technology in aesthetic medicine holds great potential—improving precision, enhancing patient outcomes, and streamlining clinical workflows.

What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received?

Always plan. Never stop strategizing about your next steps—adaptability and foresight are crucial in this industry.

How do you manage your time and find moments for relaxation amidst a busy schedule?

Over the years, I’ve learned to become more efficient with my time. Prioritizing and delegation have been key. This allows me to spend quality time with my family and friends, ensuring I maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Taimur’s achievements go beyond just successful clinic ownership. His journey exemplifies resilience, continuous learning, and visionary leadership in the aesthetic industry. As he continues to innovate and inspire, his story reminds us of the power of dedication and strategic growth.
